Care Guide

Saint Polaire garments are crafted from considered materials. Proper care extends the life of every piece and preserves the integrity of each fabric.

General Guidelines

  • Always check the care label sewn into your garment before washing
  • When in doubt, hand wash or use a gentle cold cycle
  • Never tumble dry unless the care label explicitly permits it
  • Store folded or hanging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Avoid prolonged contact with perfume, deodorant, or harsh chemicals directly on fabric

Washing

  • Machine wash on a gentle or delicate cycle in cold water (30°C or below)
  • Use a mild, colour-safe detergent
  • Wash dark and light pieces separately
  • Turn garments inside out before washing to preserve colour and surface finish
  • Use a mesh laundry bag for delicate or embellished pieces

Drying

  • Lay flat to dry where possible, particularly for knitwear and structured pieces
  • Do not wring or twist — gently press out excess water
  • Avoid direct sunlight when drying to prevent fading
  • If hanging to dry, use a padded hanger to prevent shoulder distortion

Ironing & Steaming

  • Steam is always preferred over direct ironing
  • If ironing, use a low heat setting and iron inside out with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric
  • Never iron directly onto printed, embroidered, or embellished surfaces

Storage

  • Fold knitwear rather than hanging to prevent stretching
  • Use breathable garment bags for extended storage
  • Cedar or lavender sachets are recommended over chemical moth repellents
  • Allow garments to air before returning to storage after wear

Professional Care

For pieces requiring dry cleaning, we recommend taking them to a trusted professional. The care label will indicate when dry cleaning is required.
